General Liability Coverage protects your club from claims arising from bodily injury, or property damage liability arising directly from a Learn to Swim Program. Covered payments can include claim settlements, judgements, attorney fees, court costs or other related expense from a claim or lawsuit.

program requirements
- Waiver/Release Forms signed by participants if an adult or by parents/guardians if a minor.
- Ratio of kids to instructors in a “Baby and Me Class” with parent participation is 6 to 1.
- Special needs kids are a 1 to 1 ratio.
- Ratio for kids who have never swam is 4 to 1.
- All other ratios are 8 to 1.
- Lifeguard on deck or a lifeguard certified instructor.
- AED/Oxygen, First Aid Kits, and other state/health department mandated equipment.
- Background checks required for all staff members 18 and older and child protection policies in place.
- Have written emergency action plan.
- Use a nationally recognized learn to swim curriculum or an independently developed learn to swim curriculum that follows similar models.
- Diving boards are not covered.
- Pre-Competitive Swimmers are not allowed to compete in sanctioned USA Swimming meets.
- Swimming Clubs are urged to purchase insurance for non-swimming activities – see Special Events Insurance.
- The Learn to Swim and Pre-Competitive Insurance Program is NOT 24/7 insurance coverage.
- Liability and Participant Accident Insurance only covers those accidents that occur during lessons at the pool or residential lessons, if that coverage is purchased for instructors.
Covered Activities
Swim lessons for infants to adults, including infant with parent classes, day camps/clinics held during school break. Parents and adult family member are encouraged to attend all swim lessons.
